Terms of Service

Fencing Engine is software that helps organizers run competitions and publish results. Fencing Engine provides the platform. We are not an organizer, a referee, or a federation: we do not run events, do not verify results, and do not settle sporting disputes.

Everything published here — tournaments, entries, scores, rankings — is entered by the organizer who created it. If a result looks wrong, the organizer of that competition is who to talk to.

You need an account to create tournaments. You must give a working email address and confirm it before publishing anything publicly.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep the password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has it.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Younger fencers take part in competitions through their organizer, not through an account of their own.

Do not use obscene, insulting or hateful names for tournaments, competitions or teams. Do not pretend that an event is official when it is not. Do not publish other people’s personal data beyond what a competition protocol needs — name, club, nation, results.

Names are checked automatically on publication, and anyone can report something we missed. We may take a tournament offline — it stops being visible to the public, nothing is deleted, and you can rename it and publish again.

When you add fencers to a competition, you are publishing information about other people — often minors. By doing that you confirm that you are entitled to: as the organizer of the event, on the usual basis on which entry lists and results are published in sport.

If someone asks you to remove their data, do it — you have the tools. If they write to us instead, we will pass it on to you, and we may remove the data ourselves if you do not respond.

We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. A suspended account cannot sign in, but its tournaments and results are not deleted — other people may depend on them. You will get an email saying why.

We keep the service running and keep backups, but it is software: it can be unavailable, and it can contain errors. We do not promise uninterrupted operation.

Confirming the results of a competition remains the job of its referees and organizer, exactly as at any event. Check the standings before you announce them, and print or export the final protocols at the end of each day — that gives you a copy that does not depend on us.

If something looks wrong, tell us: bugs reported by organizers are fixed first.

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, Fencing Engine is not liable for losses arising from using it.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting it also deletes the tournaments you own, together with their results. If other people rely on those results, hand the tournaments over first.

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for significant changes, by email. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
